TNMU Professor Took Part in the “Future of Education in Ukraine” Conference

On March 11, 2024, Royal Tropical Institute, KIT (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) hosted the “The Future of Education in Ukraine” conference. It was organized by U AID STICHTING, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and Foundation Glocalshift. Professor Oksana Shevchuk represented Ternopil National Medical University at this event.

The main goal of the conference is to promote and facilitate cooperation between the Netherlands and Ukraine in the field of education based on the “bottom-up” principle. This event brought together educational leaders, politicians and university representatives from Ukraine and the Netherlands to develop a strategy for the development of education and promote international cooperation. It is also an opportunity to establish connections and form partnerships that will contribute to positive changes in Ukrainian education.

Karel Burger Dirven – Honorary First Consul of Ukraine in the Netherlands; Yannick Du Pont – founder of SPARK and member of the DevCo Committee; Mark Vlek de Coningh, Head of Partnerships and Program Development at Nuffic, were the speakers at the conference. They emphasized the need for a focused but unified approach in creating promising education with and through Ukrainian-European scientific institutions at all levels.

A separate panel discussion was devoted to displaced universities and educational institutions of Ukraine with the participation of Hryhorii Mozolevych (Ministry of Education and Science), Ihor Lyman (Berdiansk State Pedagogical Institute) and Ostap Bodyk (Mariupol State University).

Interesting discussions about joint learning, matching needs with the distribution of potential and knowledge, overcoming obstacles in creating partnerships and conducting research by Ukrainian scientists in the Netherlands, as well as exchanging ideas on how to build a better future took place during the conference.
