TNMU Representative Won the Second Prize in the Competition for Dentists “Way to the World of Mastery”

The 25th All-Ukrainian professional contest of dentists “Way to the World of Mastery” was held at Poltava State Medical University (PSMU). I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University was represented by intern Borys Dovhan and third-year student of the Faculty of Dentistry Alina Fedinchyk.


The event was held at the clinic “Profesorska stomatolohiia” (“Professor’s Dentistry”) and was organised by the Department of Postgraduate Education of Dentists of PSMU. The purpose of the competition is to popularize and introduce modern technologies, equipment and photopolymer materials into health care practice, as well as to demonstrate the professional skills of dentists in restorative techniques.


The first stage of professional competitions took place remotely on February 9, 2024. TNMU intern Borys Dovhan successfully passed the selection process and was admitted to the second stage of the competition.


The second stage of the competition took place in a live format on February 17, during which the representative of TNMU took second place. He was prepared for the competition by Halyna Stoikevych, Associate Professor of the Department of Dentistry of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education. Under the terms of the competition, the participants performed the restoration of the frontal teeth of the upper jaw, Class III-IV cavities according to Black, uncomplicated caries, under anaesthesia, using isolation by the rubber dam system, with an assistant. Participants were allocated three hours to complete the work.


The events of the competition were covered online, and the evaluation of the works took place immediately after the performance.


The All-Ukrainian professional competition of intern dentists has been organized since 2000. At first it was a regional event, and then it became all-Ukrainian. The event is traditionally timed to the dentist’s day, February 9, and the day of the patron saint of dentists – Saint Apollonia.
