TNMU representatives participated in the 3rd International JProject Congress

On December 4-7, 2019, in Konya (Turkey), the 3rd International JProject Congress together with the International Congress of the Turkish Society of Pediatricians (IRUPEC 2019) was held. The event was hosted by the home land of the classic of Persian poetry, philosopher, founder of classical Turkish literature Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi and the ancient capital of the Seljuk empire. The congress was attended by nearly 1,000 scientists, world-renowned experts in pediatrics and primary immunodeficiencies from Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East.

The scientific part of IRUPEC 2019 was held in 4 halls and included sessions in English, Turkish, a session for nurses and JProject Congress, which was devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of primary immunodeficiencies. Participants had the opportunity to listen to prominent international speakers: Prof. Laszlo Marodi (Budapest, Hungary), Prof. Ismail Reisli (Konya, Turkey), Sevgi Keles (Konya, Turkey), Prof. Sergio Rosenzweig, Talal Chatila, Shen-Ying Zhang (USA), Emmanuelle Jouanguy (France), Leif Gunnar Hanitsch (Germany), Alessandro Aiuti (Italy) and many others. A number of oral and poster presentations have also been presented by Ukrainian scholars.

The IRUPEC 2019 Science Program addresses contemporary key issues in clinical pediatrics. The program of the Congress also included a large number of educational and scientific activities in pediatric nursing, and prominent speakers shared their research results, practical knowledge and experience on the best care.

At the Congress, TNMU was represented by the Head of the Department of Children’s Diseases with Pediatric Surgery, Professor Oksana Boiarchuk, Associate Professor Tetiana Hariian and Assistant Lesia Dobrovolska.

The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experience, to establish academic cooperation with scientists from Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East.

Participants had the opportunity to listen to current speeches on immunology, pediatrics. Speakers shared experience in diagnosis, clinical course and treatment of primary immunodeficiency (PID) in children, presented thorough research of immunological aspects of various diseases in children and the results of J Project implementation in different countries. Modern possibilities of cellular and genetic diagnostics of primary immunodeficiencies were presented.

TNMU participants delivered one oral and three poster presentations:

  • Prof. Oksana Boiarchuk presented an oral report on “Results of implementation of the J Project principles in Ternopil region, Ukraine” at the session “Fast-growing regions of the J Project: achievements and future prospects”;

     

  • Prof. Oksana Boiarchuk delivered a poster presentation on “Clinical and immunological aspects of DiGeorge syndrome in children”;
  • Assoc. Professor Tetiana Hariian presented a poster report on “Chronic granulomatous disease: ways of diagnosis”;
  • Assistant Lesia Dobrovolska delivered a poster presentation on the topic “Selective IgA deficiency in children with diabetes”.

The general atmosphere at the Congress made it possible to gain new knowledge in pediatric immunology and, in particular, immunodeficiency in children. The openness and friendliness of specialists from foreign countries and Ukraine opens up opportunities for cooperation and new achievements.
