TNMU Representatives Took Part in the Training “University Development Strategy. Project Management”

On January 25-27, 2022, the training “University Development Strategy. Project Management” was held within the Ukrainian-Swiss Project “Development of Medical Education”.

The managers and teachers of Ternopil National Medical University joined the event: A.H Shulhai, H.Ya. Zahrychuk, D.B. Korobko, P.H. Lykhatskyi, I.D. Drach, S.O. Yastremska, O.I. Lebid, O.L. Sydorenko, N.B. Haliiash, S.R. Husak.

The team of professional trainers: Matvii Khrenov (co-founder of the Ukrainian Healthcare Centre), Tetiana Nemyrovych (facilitator, organizational development consultants), Vitalii Zaiats (information and communication technology consultant) was headed by Tetiana Stepurko, the Head of the Office for Implementation of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Development of medical education”.

During the first day, the following strategic concepts were considered: vision, mission, aims, competition in the modern world and the reasons for strategizing. Our team worked on the analysis of the target audience and the client range; to identify and analyse the client’s problem was the most difficult for all teams, because we immediately offered ready solutions.

Already on the second day of the training after the blocks of theory on working on different stages of the project, we presented our projects; we worked on the initiative of teachers and improving student environment.

The team of trainers analysed our work and provided constructive feedback.

After discussing the Simon Sinek’s circles and the logical framework of the project, we continued team work on project planning and developed logical frameworks and Gantt charts of our projects.

Thus, project management is very interesting, but at the same time very difficult and requires a lot of effort, so the evening program helped to raise team spirit.

Intellectual quiz “What? Where? When?” best contributed to team building, informal communication and acquaintance with colleagues from Kharkiv National Medical University, who also participated in the training.

During the next day, the teams of our university continued working on projects, budget planning, monitoring and definition of indicators.

Also, we reflected on the risks and how to make the project successful.

Three days of intense brainstorming and teamwork ended with preparation of two projects, which after completion will be implemented quite soon in our institution of higher education.

The most interesting are the expected results of projects or “high hanging fruits”.
