TNMU scholars participated in the 1st National Congress of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine

On December 12-14, 2019, the 1st National Congress of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine “Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in Ukraine: Practical Implementation of Multiprofessional Rehabilitation in Health Care Institutions” was held in Kyiv in P. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

The Congress was chaired by Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Head of the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and Sports Medicine of National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education Oleksandr Vladymyrov. The Congress included plenary sessions with basic reports by leading European and Ukrainian specialists who shared practical experience of building a system of multiprofessional rehabilitation, physical rehabilitation plans for the development of multi-professional rehabilitation assistance in health care facilities of Ukraine at different stages of rehabilitation. Workshops on different fields of medical rehabilitation (neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, general aspects of life activity limitations) were also held by the representatives of the Council of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of the European Union of Medical Specialists (Italy, Germany, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia), Ukrainian physical rehabilitation doctors, ergotherapists, physical therapists, speech therapists. An exhibition of rehabilitation equipment, physiotherapy equipment, rehabilitation aids was held within the Congress.

At the Congress, an open meeting of the board of the non-governmental organization “Ukrainian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine” was held with the participation of representatives of the European bodies of the physical rehabilitation, which gathered 72 speakers from Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia and Ukraine.

At the Congress, TNMU was represented by Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy, Physical Education D. V. Popovych and Assistant O. L. Yavorska. During the two days of the Congress, they had a chance to hear the reports by leading experts, who presented the rehabilitation experience of European and Ukrainian institutions.

The Congress was supported by the PRM Section & Board of UEMS and Esprm, represented by scientists Mauro Zampolini (Italy) and Klemen Grabljevec (Slovenia), Alvydas Joucevicius (VUL Santaros klinikos) and Aivars Vetra (Rīgas Stradiņa universitāte (Riga Stradinsner University)) (Medizinische Hochschule Hannover / MHHnova), Joerg Wissel (Vivantes Klinikum Spandau).

Workshops with the representatives of the PRM-Baltic-NATO project and NATO Support and Procurement Agency – NSPA on different fields of medical rehabilitation (neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, general aspects of life activity limitation) were held at the Congress.
