TNMU Scientist of the Department of Pharmacy Management, Economics and Technology completed an internship in Wroclaw
Since its establishment, Wroclaw Medical University (Uniwersytet Medycznyi Piastów Śląskich we Wrocławiu) has always cooperated with the medical universities of Ukraine in the field of science and academic exchange, developing an international cultural partnership. However, a special place in the history of international cooperation is occupied by Ternopil National Medical University. Wroclaw Medical University suggests internship programs for TNMU staff in Wroclaw.
Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacy Management and Economics and Technology Yu. A. Ravliv completed internship on February 1-14, 2020 at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Wroclaw Medical University (Wydział Farmaceutyczny z Oddziałem Analityki Medycznej). The structure of the Faculty includes 19 departments, which provide training for pharmaceutical specialists.

During her internship, the scientist was able to observe and participate in scientific research. There is a laboratory (Centrum Badawczo-Wdrożeniowe Zaawansowanych Terapii Komórkowych) at the Department of Basics of Medical Knowledge (Katedra i Zakład Podstaw Nauk Medycznych), where stem cell research is conducted.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Zakład Biotechnologii Farmaceutycznej) showed the research on RNA isolation from plants. The Head of the Department is Dr. Monica Biletska.

The Department of Drug Technology (Katedra i Zakład Technologii Postaci Leku) demonstrated the laboratories conducting drug development research. There are a large number of laboratories in the department, which are equipped with the most up-to-date scientific research equipment and instruments. Laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy have separate laboratories for practical training.

The laboratory (Pracownia Analyzes Elementarnej i Badań Structuralnych) works closely with the Department of Drug Technology, which is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for analyzing newly developed medicines. Dr. Agatha Gornyak (first right) manages the laboratory.

The internship also took place at the Department of Biology and Pharmaceutical Botany, which is headed by Prof. Adam Matkovsky. Scientific research is at a very high level. The department grows plants under different lighting conditions for further scientific research.
Our scientist was also familiarized with the work of the Library of the Faculty of Pharmacy and provided access to the latest pharmaceutical textbooks (in English, Polish, French). Moreover, within the internship the main library of the Wrocław Medical University (Biblioteka Główna UMW) was visited. The Department of Drug Technology also provided access to the Departmental Library and electronic access to all databases to search for information, articles, and patents to plan their own research.

The Museum of Pharmacy was also visited as part of the internship. The museum premises occupy 3 floors. The pharmacy operated 700 years ago in this building. This pharmacy was first started by a woman from Lviv who had a Master’s degree in Pharmacy.

The internship coincided with the celebrations of the University’s 70th anniversary. The solemn event took place in the Aula Leopoldin Speaker Hall. The celebration was attended by the Rector, invited rectors of other educational institutions, state officials, teaching staff, guests.
