TNMU Student Combines Academic Excellence with Helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Diana Storoshchuk, a student of TNMU Faculty of Medicine, fled to Finland with her parents on February 28, 2022, as her hometown of Kryvyi Rih was very close to the war zone. On the eve of the beginning of the school year, the girl returned to Ternopil. Together with her parents, the student worked in Finland and used part of her earnings for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the first half of the day, she studied remotely at TNMU, and then went to work and worked until 2 am.

“One of my classmates worked with me at the same factory, with whom I left together. We united other people who wanted to help our boys in the fight. My sister’s fiancé is in the army and protects his hometown, so we helped them raise money for a car. Finnish sausage, candies, cookies, and tea were bought and handed over. A sister in Ukraine coordinated the delivery of humanitarian aid to our military. She sent us feedback and wishes from them,” Diana says.

Our defenders tried to take care of others – they gave part of what they received to the orphanages that were next to them, they helped people. It was possible to purchase and transfer three thermal imagers for the military.

“My parents stayed in Finland. They didn’t want to let me go because they were worried about my safety. Ternopil is a safe city. And I really wanted to learn live. In addition, it is possible to help here in Ukraine more effectively than abroad. As for fear, I will say that our boys are not afraid and take risks every day, so what should I be afraid of,” Diana Storoshchuk says.
