TNMU Students and Teachers of the Department of Physiology, Bioethics and Biosafety Joined the Commemoration of the Kruty Heroes

On January 29, 2024, teachers of the Department of Physiology, Bioethics and Biosafety together with the students of their tutor groups, took part in the event dedicated to commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Kruty.

The initiator of the event was the “Literary Ternopil” library-museum.

As the lecturer of the meeting, senior researcher of the Ternopil Regional Museum of Local Lore Liubov Levenets, emphasized: “The battle near Kruty is a heroic and at the same time tragic event. It marked the beginning of a new era of national awakening of Ukrainians, awareness of the right to live on their own land and the sacred duty to defend it.”

In order to prepare the report, it was necessary not only to study and process a large amount of archival material, correspondence and memories of contemporaries of that tragic event and individual surviving participants. One should have in one’s heart an incomprehensible love for the younger generation in order to tell such an inspired story about this period. More than once, the heart of those present was crushed by the imagination of what happened in the distant year 1918. The devotion of the young Ukrainian leadership to their subordinates directly on the battlefield, the unbreakable steadfastness and impressive unity of Ukrainian youth, and the rivers of blood that turned red that January…

And now the perpetrators are using brutal methods of war, and now the best sons and daughters of Ukraine are dying. To cherish the memory of the fallen of the past and present is necessary in order to know the price of freedom, which is given at such a great price again.

The material was prepared by Natalia Volotovska, Associate Professor of the Department of Physiology, Bioethics and Biosafety.
