TNMU Students Presented the Fundamentals of Immunity to the Teachers of Volyn Region

On the World Immunization Week, Ivan Lutsyk (group MM-208) and Uliana Dyshko (group MM-204), the students of the Faculty of Medicine of TNMU, organized a series of events on “Immunity and Immunization” in schools of Volyn region. The lectures were delivered to pupils of Vetlivskyi Lyceum (Kamin-Kashyrskyi district), Volyn Scientific Lyceum-Boarding School (Lutsk), Lutsk Secondary School No. 2, and Volyn branch of the Federation of Debates of Ukraine. Moreover, a meeting with teachers of Vetlivsky Lyceum was held for presenting more information about vaccines before the next stage of COVID-19 immunization.

Due to the current challenging epidemic situation, the events took place in a mixed format: both online and live. Students talked about immunity and its components, introduced the main classes of vaccines, revealed the main points of the SARS-CoV-2 strategy in the human body and emphasized the peculiar features of present vaccination against COVID-19.

The audience also joined discussion. They expressed their own opinion on the topic, asked questions to the speakers, especially about suspicious information they heard.

The students hope that the information provided during the events helps all participants to better understand the issues of immunity and vaccines, and develop their critical thinking.

The organizers are grateful to the administration and employees of educational institutions, as well as Svitlana Oleksiivna Nykytiuk for information and supporting materials for the lectures, and Marta Ihorivna Rudenko for assistance in organization of the events.
