TNMU Students Discussed the Basics of Oral Hygiene with Ternopil Schoolchildren

On March 14, 2024, TNMU students together with their tutor, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Maria Kichula, organized a sanitary and educational campaign for the 7th-grade students of Ternopil Secondary School No. 18 on the topic “Healthy teeth – the key to health”.

The first-year students of the Faculty of Dentistry of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National University (SS-107) told students about the importance of dental health, presented information about the structure and number of teeth, and emphasized proper oral care.

In addition, future dentists demonstrated to students the method of proper tooth brushing on the model of the jaws. At the end, they conducted a quiz to control students’ understanding of information. For each correct answer, schoolchildren received a prize – a note about oral care rules. Students and pupils were satisfied with the results of the campaign, as its goal was to preserve children’s dental health. Such activities are an integral part of popularizing knowledge about the prevention of dental diseases among schoolchildren and teachers, and also help students to implement the acquired knowledge and improve communication skills with patients of different ages.

Unfortunately, the action had to be held in the shelter of the school due to the threat of ballistic missile use.

The information was provided by Maria Kichula.
