TNMU Students Took Part in the Annual National Conference ICMAU

The annual ICMAU conference took place on October 15-17, 2021. Due to quarantine restrictions, the event was held online. The initiators of the forum hope that in the near future there will be another opportunity for face to face meeting.

30 students represented Ternopil National Medical University. This allowed our team receiving a special prize for the largest number of participants.

The organizing committee involved Dr Jim Pipeon (event consultant), Steve Sparks (web technology specialist), Inioluwa Agesin (forum chair), Ozoude Makuochukwu MaryAnn (communications officer).

Participants drew inspiration, new knowledge and practical experience from the reports by the invited guests. Nyikkeabasi Ekott from Nigeria focused on the spiritual aspects in presentation “On God’s Way: From Ukraine to Nigeria and England”. Vinod Shah, a paediatric surgeon from India, presented the report on “Challenges and Future of Medical Education”. Chima Onoka (Nigeria) focused on current issues of “Suffering during a pandemic: student’s point of view”.

Chris Steyn reported how to deal with stress. Cleon Rogers, a family doctor from the USA, presented a report on “Forgotten diseases during the pandemic”.

Pediatrician Jim Peipon (USA/Ukraine) reported on “A Saline Process Taster”. Noel Aruparayil, a surgeon, ICMDA Regional Secretary Eurasia, India/England, spoke about the impact of COVID on clinical, spiritual and personal life.

Lars Ljungström presented to the participants the future challenges of the Covid pandemic in the sector of infectious diseases.

John Davis, Augustin Lutakwa, Ferdinand Nweke, Rick Paul, Ifeanyi Onah also presented their reports.
