TNMU Teachers Took Part in the III National Congress on Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine

Representatives of the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education, Professor Daria Popovych and Department Assistant Uliana Hevko took part in the III National Congress on Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine “Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine in Ukraine in the Conditions of a Full-Scale War”. The event took place on December 7-8, 2023 in Lviv.

The welcome speeches were delivered by the adviser to the President of Ukraine on barrier-free accessibility Tetiana Lomakina, member of the board, project manager of the Association of Psychological Counseling and Trauma Therapy Oksana Sivak, and the Head of the Department of Physical, Rehabilitative and Sports Medicine at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Ukrainian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine” Oleksandr Vladymyrov.

The Congress gathered more than 120 speakers from all over the world, including 15 leading rehabilitation specialists from abroad, more than 250 offline participants and more than 800 online participants.

Two days were full of interesting scientific reports and events. The Congress presented a block of reports, workshops by specialists of the multidisciplinary team in various sections devoted to the rehabilitation of patients who suffered as a result of the war, reports from leading European and Ukrainian specialists with practical experience in building a rehabilitation system abroad and in Ukraine. All areas of rehabilitation assistance are covered, as well as education and advanced training of specialists in the field of rehabilitation. As part of the Congress, a general meeting of the Ukrainian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine was held, where a new board was elected.


The implementation of the International Classification of Functioning, Limitation of Vital Activities and Health in Ukraine was also discussed, and there were constructive discussions regarding the system of providing assistance by health care institutions under the rehabilitation packages of the National Health Service.


All participants had the opportunity to deepen and update their knowledge in the field of physical therapy of war injuries, in particular at the acute stage of rehabilitation; learn more about modern approaches to neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, cardiorehabilitation and rehabilitation in paediatrics.


At the Congress, the Head of the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education, Professor Daria Popovych, presented a report on the topic: “Clinical practical training at TNMU Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Education for students of the second (Master’s) level of higher education, majoring in “Physical Therapy””.
