TNMU Volunteer Centre Sent Humanitarian Aid for Patients with Diabetes to Kharkiv

Recently, the Volunteer Centre of Ternopil National Medical University received huge humanitarian consignment of medical supplies for people with diabetes from foreign partners. On November 14, 2022, TNMU volunteers handed over a large amount of these products to the “To Victory for the sake of Life” charitable foundation, which operates in Kharkiv.  A few days ago, this foundation sent a request to our university with a request to help provide diabetes patients with medicines and specific means.

“To Victory for the sake of Life” charitable foundation deals with targeted assistance to those suffering from diabetes.  We know that Kharkiv is constantly under fire and needs help and support.  It is good that there are people who, even in very difficult conditions, risking their own lives, distribute medicine to sick city residents.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, the Volunteer Centre of TNMU has been operating a headquarters for providing assistance to patients with diabetes, headed by Victoria Furdela, Associate Professor of the Department of Paediatrics № 2. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she takes care of children with diabetes in the Ternopil region, and with the beginning of the war, Mrs. Victoria helped all those who were forced to leave their homes.

Today’s shipment is also symbolic of the fact that on November 14, the world community reminds everyone of the importance of preventing and fighting diabetes.  Ternopil National Medical University constantly participates in all-Ukrainian events and constantly works in the educational direction.  The School of Diabetes was created a few years ago by the joint efforts of TNMU and Ternopil Regional Children’s Hospital, in which Victoria Furdela and our students teach children with this disease to lead a healthy lifestyle in order to minimize the consequences of diabetes as much as possible.
