TSMU Arranged Summer Holidays for the Students of Luhansk and Donetsk Medical Universities

In the educational and recreational institution “Chervona Kalyna” of I.Ya. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University the program “East and West Belong Together” has started on August 3. It was initiated by the administration of the university. Only a few days ago the summer school participants tearfully said good-bye to their new friends. In a few days the TSMU students befriended with the representatives of eastern Ukraine universities. So, to rest and to familiarize with life, historical and cultural places of interest of Ternopil region 19 students of Donetsk National Medical University of Maxim Gorky and 4 students of Lugansk State Medical University came to “Chervona Kalyna “.

Associate Professor of pharmacognosy Ivanna Kernychna, who is responsible for public activities and volunteerism in TSMU, said that the implementation of the project “East and West Belong Together” was created over time.

“We negotiated with the chiefs of Lugansk and Donetsk Medical Universities about delegating of their youth to us; we also created an interesting program. In total, six teachers of our university were involved in the project; TSMU students are also very helpful. I should mention that they have proved to be active public figures and volunteers a long time before. Besides their gentle hearts they are also good facilitators. Some students are responsible for arranging the daily morning physical exercises and some of them organize competitions and skills development workshops. Such students are involved in this week’s program arrangements: Romania Klos, Illiana Hoda, Victoria Chornomaz, Narhiz Dzhavadova, Kateryna Vorobets, Denys Biriukov. There were many young people willing to take part in the project realization, so we divided them into two groups. Next week another shift will start their work,” Ivanna Kernychna said.

The project “East and West Belong Together” at TSMU has started only this year, but it has every chance to become a university tradition. This program contributes not only to the relations improvement between the universities, but also to the creation of a fold in the medical branch, to the reunion of the country and promotion of tourism in Ternopil region.

On August 5 the participants visited I.Ya. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University and communicated with Professor Mykhailo Korda, the Rector. Mykhailo Mykhailovych was interested in young people’s impressions of Ternopil and emphasized that TSMU is always ready to help all young people from the East.

The youth thanked the Rector of TSMU for       gaining an access to all educational resources placed in the internal system of the university Intranet. Students noted that it helps them a lot in their studies. Recently I.Ya. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University also sent to these two universities its textbooks.

An adventure holiday has begun for the students from Luhansk and Donetsk from the first day of their stay in the ERI “Chervona Kalyna”. Students of TSMU arranged for them a lot of interesting quests, competitions and skills development workshops.
