TSMU delegation visited Rzeszow University

At the invitation of Sylwester Czopek, rector of Rzeszow University, Poland, a delegation TSMU professors, including Vice-Rector for research, Dr. I.M. Klisch, associate professor of pediatrics V.B. Furdelia, and assistant professor of medical rehabilitation Y.I.Zavidniuk attended matriculation of Rzeszow University students.

In his speech during the event, Dr. Czopek emphasized that the Rzeszow University is the largest university in the region. It actively develops, and today there are 12 departments, which train students in 38 specialties.

17,743 students are enrolled at the university in this academic year. The school employs 2,177 staff, including 1,343 professors, of whom 113 hold advanced degrees. A total of 7,076 started their studies this year.

In addition to taking part in the festivities, the delegation visited a multidisciplinary hospital in Rzeszow, where they learned about the newest technologies introduced by professor Kazimierz Widenka to treat acquired heart defects.

Another organization the delegation visited was the Regional Center for Rehabilitation and Education (RORE), which uses advanced technologies treat patients with cardiological, neurological, orthopedic and trauma diseases, as well as children with developmental defects. In addition to undergoing medical and physical rehabilitation, these children can also take school classes.

Discussions with  rector of Rzeszow university, Professor Sylwester Czopek and dean of the Faculty of Medicine Artur Mazur, resulted in an agreed to implement joint projects within the framework of the cross-border partnership, to develop research projects concerning  the problem of childhood diabetes and the prevention of obesity in toddlers and school age children. Other forms of cooperation were also being discussed, including exchange programs and internships for students and teachers.
