TSMU Has Presented Field of Medicine at “Mіsto Profesіi” (Professions’ Town)

“Professions’ Town” took place on September 20 in Taras Shevchenko Park as a part of national project. At this event the students of Ternopil State Medical University demonstrated the peculiarities of doctor’s works to Ternopil children.

This program is supported by the first lady of Ukraine Maryna Poroshenko. By the way, she personally came to inaugurate the event, to check all professional stations and initiated the event “Book of Peace”. “Professions’ Town” already took place in Bila Tserkva, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky and Ternopil. This event is going to be be held in 25 cities of Ukraine.

“I wanted to visit Ternopil very much. It is the city, which is always full of patriotic tone. Ternopil citizens were the first at Euromaidan, the first who defended Ukraine in anti-terrorist operation. Children are the future of Ukraine. That is why the development and prosperity of our country depends on them. I believe that our country will become strong and prosperous,” Maryna Poroshenko said.

Associate Professor of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive-Care Medicine Roman Liakhovych said that two stations were organized by the TSMU teachers and students. The youth taught Ternopil children the fundamentals of pre-medical assistance at one station, at the other kids had an opportunity to try themselves as surgeons.

The students of TSMU who participated in the “Professions’ Town” are certified instructors of Ukrainian Council of Resuscitation and they continue to implement the program “I can save lives”. On weekends they teach Ternopil citizens to administer first aid. The raising doctors also showed the kids how to put stitches on the cut. All our students were patient and inspired to explain the kids the importance of doctor profession.
