TSMU hosted the International Medical Congress of Students and Young Scientists

Every year, Ternopil State Medical University welcomes several hundred young people, who come to participate in the International Medical Congress of students and young scientists. On April 23-25, they gathered in the recreation complex Chervona Kalyna discuss current medical issues.

234 of the participants represented Ukrainian universities while 254 were from TSMU. In total, 576 papers were submitted to the forum: 566 of them from Ukraine, and 10 from abroad. In addition to the scientific program, the participants had an opportunity to visit significant architectural, natural and historical sights of our region.

Rector of Ternopil State Medical University Professor Mykhaylo Korda opened the forum.

“Every year in spring, we are happy to meet young scientists from all over Ukraine. This congress has become a tradition of our university, the one that we support and develop. It is wonderful that we have the opportunity to see the achievements of the best students and young scientists from our country and abroad. I want to say that in our university we fully support young scientists. The research department is helping students to realize their aspirations, to participate in various scientific conferences. In addition to visiting scientific forums in Ukraine and abroad, our students participate in international programs and access to the latest technology in Europe and the world. Only last year we signed 15 new agreements with foreign universities for academic and research exchanges for students and teachers. Last year, ten students studied at European universities through the Erasmus program, more than 30 students participated in internships and trainings through the many bilateral agreements with overseas universities. Organizing such forums for young scientists, publishing research results, introducing on research projects shows our commitment to the development of medical science. To the participants, I want to wish Godspeed and have a pleasant stay in our hospitable Ternopil land ” – said Dr. Korda.

Associate professor of the Department of Normal and Topographic Anatomy and Surgery (Aktobe, Kazakhstan), Liubov Ivanova gave a keynote lecture on Student Anatomy Research at the Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan State Medical University.

In addition, during the congress, Dr. Ivanova met with TSMU rector, Dr. Korda to discuss directions of cooperation between the two universities, in particular the possibility of long-term academic exchanges for teachers and students.

Ihor Stetsiuk, the chairman of TSMU Student Parliament, in his welcoming remarks, noted that the congress is becoming more and more popular every year. He emphasized that student research has a great influence on future professional development and wished everyone success in their work.

During the forum, young scientists presented their reports in the following sections: Internal Diseases; Experimental Medicine; Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Pediatric Surgery; Orthopedics, traumatology; Emergency Medicine, Resusitation, Anesthesiology; Infectious Diseases and Dermatology; Neurology and Psychiatry; Preventive and Social Medicine; ICT in Medicine; Medical Law; Normal and Experimental Morphology, Pathomorphology, Forensic medicine; Biology and Microbiology ; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Clinical Nursing; Clinical Immunology; Practical Cases; Pediatrics; Pharmacology and Pharmacy; and Eye, ENT and Dental Medicine.
