Recently, the students of Ternopil State Medical University joined the establishment of the first in Ukraine wall “Before I Die”. The idea leads many people to think about the meaning of their life. This summer creative youth come up with this idea during the National Conference on Project Management “Change Camp 2015” in Odessa. Thanks to creativity and persistence of student community Ternopil is the first city in Ukraine, which joined the International Interactive Art Project “Before I Die…”
Dmytro Myroniuk, Alina Dziuba, Tetiana Ivanitska, Ania Shkvarok, Taras Moroz were the coordinators of this project. Ternopil State Medical University, Ternopil City Council, Karma Kavy (Coffee’s Karma) coffee shop provided their support. The décor was supplied by Just Àrt design studio and the students of Ternopil National Technical University.
Artists painted a big fiberboard in black and attached it to the wall of arch alley near the Karma Kavy (Coffee’s Karma) coffee shop. Passers-by were offered to write down their deepest dreams and desires with a piece of chalk of different colours. The event was very successful because in a half an hour there was no free space at the wall.
In 2011, Candy Chang from New Orleans, after the loss of a beloved, thought over the value of time. It is one of the most important resources given to each of us. She used a distorted wall of an abandoned house and made a masterpiece at it. She wrote “Before I die, I want to …” Everyone could take a piece of chalk and share his dream. The next day there was no free space at the wall. About 1,000 walls “Before I die” have been established in more than 70 countries and in 36 languages since then. The project becomes more and more popular.
The project opening took place with accompaniment of municipal brass band “Orchestra Voli”.
A charity fundraising for the eye surgery of a TSMU student took place during the opening of the art wall. The students supported their colleague and her dream to be healthy.
