TSMU professor took part in the XXII Kyiv Dermatology Days

XXII Kyiv Dermatology Days conference took place October 11 – 13, 2017, in Kyiv. Professor of the Department of Infectious, Skin and STI Diseases Dr.  S.O. Halnykina participated in the forum. This is the most anticipated professional event of the year for dermatologists from Ukraine and abroad. Contributing to its popularity are practical focus of the presentations, scientific novelty of materials, and relaxed atmosphere during sectional meetings.

First day of the conference held an international forum on dermatoscopy aimed at the specialists to study this method in-depth and improve their practical skills. Dermatoscopy is gaining popularity in daily practice for diagnosing neoplasms and various skin diseases. World-class experts in dermatology, including Emilios Lallas (Greece) and Raymond Carls (Latvia) gave lectures, while the hands-on training addressed both basic and complex issues, and clinical cases.  Discussions on controversial issues of dermatology and preventive dermatoconology emphasized the importance of preventive screening in routine dermatological practice.

The next two days held plenary and sectional sessions in various areas of modern dermatology, including General Dermatology, Dermatoconology, Trichology, Aesthetic Medicine, and a separate section dedicated to Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis. Dr. S.O. Halnykina presented her report Geriatric dermatology: how can we improve the quality of life for the elderly?

Medical residents of TSMU Department of Infectious, Skin and STI Diseases attended the conference. They had the opportunity to hear reports from different sections of dermatology, and get familiar with advanced methods of skin diseases treatment. Such events allow young doctors to learn about the latest developments in their field, and grow as professionals.

An important question discussed during conference was the creation of a new national information resource, Medical Knowldehge Hub Dermatology medknowhub.com, aimed to provide information support for practicing doctors and to facilitating access to the world’s leading practices on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with skin pathology. In addition to articles and reviews, this portal also presents clinical cases, which is especially useful for improving one’s dermatology knowledge. A team of experts to coordinate the work of this resource had been selected, and includes professor of our university S.O. Halnykina
