TSMU scholar participated in the 3rd Summer Conference on Neonatology

Assistant professor of the Department of Pediatrics Iryna Sarapuk participated in the Summer Conference on Neonatology, which took place on September 5-8, 2017 in Avignon, France.

Summer Conferences on Neonatology are held annually and attract leading neonatologists of the world. This year’s conference was attended by scientists from Switzerland, Great Britain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the United States and Canada.

Discussed during the meeting were a wide range of issues related to the diagnosis, care and treatment of babies and premature infants.

Particular attention was paid to the questions of significantly premature birth, use of the latest perinatal technologies, particularities of reanimation in newborns, problems of persistent fetal circulation, and care of children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and pulmonary hypertension, hypoxic lesions of the nervous system, and infectious diseases. New approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of these pathologies in accordance with modern European recommendations were presented. A number of reports addressed the features of enteral and parenteral feeding of newborns, including severely preterm infants.

An urgent question in present day neonatology and pediatrics is the follow-up observation of premature infants. In developed countries, the follow-up system is well established and constantly improving. In Ukraine, this system is being gradually introduced and implemented.

Poster session allowed the scientists and neonatal practitioners share interesting cases from their clinical experience and present their research findings. Irina Sarapuk presented a poster on Benefits of Skin-To-Skin Contact to Preterm Newborns.
