THEA Ukraine X Summer Camp in Münster

On June 26-27, 2023, the THEA Ukraine X summer camp was held in Münster (Germany) with the support and funding of the DAAD. 13 representatives from 6 universities participated in the event, who were previously selected, trained and held workshops on internationalization, strategic planning, ensuring the quality of education at their universities.

FH Münster University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest and most successful universities of applied sciences in Germany, with more than 15,000 students currently enrolled in more than 100 bachelor’s and master’s programs.

Professor Oksana Shevchuk and Associate Professor Sofia Husak from I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University took part in the event.

Oksana Shevchuk presented a report on the first Ukrainian-European community “Professional Network of Research and Higher Education Managers” (PNRM), which aims to unite managers of higher education and science from different regions of Ukraine for the purpose of effective cooperation, educational and research potential implementation, interaction between national and international networks.

Sofia Husak, having passed the competitive selection and training in the THEA Ukraine X grant program, together with Larysa Kalachevska, Professor of Sumy National Agrarian University, and Iryna Borovyk, Associate Professor of TNMU Department of Therapy and Family Medicine, previously prepared and held a two-day training “Improving pedagogical competence: challenges in times of crisis”. At the end of her studies, she was invited as a project participant to take part in a summer camp.

This event was organized to enhance the management of higher education from the perspective of future cooperation, as well as to use networking opportunities to strengthen the resilience and flexibility of Ukrainian higher education managers in wartime conditions. The following seminars were held within the framework of this event:

    • Modern trends in the direction of internationalization of higher education
    • Internationalization of quality control in times of change
    • Flexibility in the management of education quality
    • THEA Ukraine X project: multiplicative trainings for higher education administrators in Ukraine (report, opportunities for further collaboration, future prospects)
    • Continuous professional development of the teacher (teaching activity, pedagogical skills, research skills)
    • Presentation of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the MSCA4Ukraine program, which enables Ukrainian scientists to undergo short and long-term internship programs in the EU
    • Presentation of the German-Ukrainian Academic Society (DUAG)
    • Networking opportunities between German and Ukrainian higher education managers.

    The acquired knowledge showed that it is necessary to implement new approaches in higher education quality management (flexibility, sustainability); to develop the internationalization of higher education; establish new contacts regarding cooperation with educational institutions in Germany for the development of medical education in Ukraine.
