TNMU Students Swore Allegiance to the People of Ukraine

On April 24, 2024, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University held ceremonies on the occasion of taking the military oath. A total of 37 TNMU course participants completed their studies under the training program for reserve officers of the medical service at the Department of Disaster and Military Medicine. The students of the graduation courses of the faculties of our university excellently performed small arms shooting exercises and showed discipline and diligence in acquiring knowledge and practical skills.

The oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people began with commemoration of the heroes who gave their lives while defending Ukraine from the Russian aggressor.

The event was attended by the Rector of TNMU, Professor Mykhaylo Korda, university vice-rectors, Head of the Department of Disaster and Military Medicine, Associate Professor Viktor Lototskyi, as well as representatives of this department – Associate Professor Ihor Harasymiv, Associate Professor Olha Svan, Head of the Department of Operation, Preservation, Maintenance and Repair of Weapons and Military Equipment Yurii Sliusarenko, Acting Deputy Head of the Ternopil Territorial Centre of Recruitment and Social Support Anton Pasternak.

“Today is an important stage in your life. This oath is one of the most important. This is the inviolable word, the price of which is greater than life. To take an oath is to realize that from this day on you become defenders of our land, you become medical officers. You are taking this step at a difficult time for our country, when Ukraine is under aggression from Russia, when the best sons and daughters of our country are dying. I wish that you never have to apply the knowledge gained during military training, so that there will always be a peaceful sky above your heads,” said Mykhaylo Korda.

The Deputy Head of the Department Ihor Harasymiv informed about the procedure for taking the military oath.

Each course participant personally took an oath of loyalty to the people of Ukraine and sealed it with their signatures.

At the end of the event, Roman Lazarenko, Anastasia Feshchenko and Valentyna Kramarenko were awarded certificates for excellent performance in military training.

Roman Lazarenko expressed gratitude to the soldiers who are defending Ukraine today and wished all the participants to be faithful to their oath.

The celebrations ended with the blessing of Father Ihor Drapak.
