TNMU Professor Completed a Professional Training at Sainte-Anne Hospital Center in Paris
In September 2024, the Head of the Neurology Department, Professor Svitlana Shkrobot, had professional training at Sainte-Anne Hospital Center (Paris, France). This medical institution is part of the University Hospitals of Paris, specializing in psychiatry and neurology (GHU Paris). GHU Paris is one of France’s leading institutions in psychiatry and neurology, with 74,000 patients.
In recent years, Sainte-Anne Hospital Center has introduced several innovative developments in psychiatry and neurology. In particular:
• deployment of out-of-hospital and outpatient structures within the sectoral policy;
• deployment of the network as part of public assistance Hôpitaux de Paris;
• active participation in the Rapid Reception Service (SAU);
• development of research work in cooperation with INSERM.
УIn the Neurological Department of Sainte-Anne Hospital Center, the neuroradiology field has advanced thanks to innovative equipment and technologies.
During the training, the main focus was on the work of neurological departments, notably the Stroke Center. Fascinating is that in Paris, with a population of 2.2 million people, there are only three Stroke Centers where all modern high-tech, diagnostic, treatment and human capabilities are concentrated. One of these centers is located in Sainte-Anne Hospital Center. Svitlana Shkrobot had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Stroke Center, which provides specialized assistance to patients with acute disorders of cerebral circulation (1,200 strokes per year).
The Head of the Center, Professor David Calvet (Professor of the Université Paris Cité), demonstrated the work of all departments of this unit, including the Neurosurgical Department with the center of endovascular neurosurgery, spoke about the “route of a patient with stroke,” emphasized the latest technologies in the treatment of acute disorders of the cerebral circulation and methods of early rehabilitation of patients.
Today, neurorehabilitation is one of the promising areas of modern medicine. It goes beyond the boundaries of clinical neurology, as it concerns not only the state of the nervous system in various neurological diseases but also changes in the functional capabilities of a person in the conditions of the development of the disease.
The professional training of Professor Svitlana Shkrobot was an excellent opportunity to exchange experience with colleagues from GHU Paris Psychiatrie et Neurosciences, deepen the understanding of work in interdisciplinary teams, study in detail the work of the Stroke Center of Sainte-Anne Hospital Center.
The information and experience obtained during the professional internship will be implemented in the educational process and clinical practice at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.
