Scientific and Practical Conference “Provision of Modern Specialized Otorhinolaryngological Care in the Context of the Russian-Ukrainian War” was Held at TNMU

On May 2, 2026, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University hosted the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Provision of Modern Specialized Otorhinolaryngological Care in the Context of the Russian-Ukrainian War.” The event became a major scientific forum, bringing together more than 400 otorhinolaryngologists from Kyiv and the Ternopil, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava regions. The conference was organized by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology in partnership with World Medicine Ophthalmics.

The event served as an active platform for professional communication, exchange of experience, and presentation of modern approaches to providing specialized ENT care under the challenging conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The conference was officially opened by Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Oleksandra Oleshchuk, who emphasized the critical importance of timely and high-quality specialized medical care for military personnel and civilian patients who have sustained injuries and trauma as a result of the military aggression of the terrorist state. A welcoming address was also delivered by the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Professor Oleksandr Yashan, Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology.

A significant number of presentations focused on nasal and paranasal sinus pathology, with contributions from Professor Ivanna Koshel, Professor Svitlana Levytska, Associate Professor Viacheslav Didkovskyi, Taras Kunakh, PhD, and Viktor Yushchenko, PhD, who highlighted effective approaches to the diagnosis, therapeutic management, and surgical treatment of a wide range of ENT disorders.

Contemporary methods for diagnosing and treating complex patients with pharyngeal and laryngeal diseases were presented by Professor Vasyl Popovych, Associate Professor Oksana Moskalyk, Associate Professor Mykhailo Bezeha, and Ihor Havura.

Innovative approaches to the management of patients with acoustic barotrauma were demonstrated by Professor Oleksandr Yashan, Professor Liliia Babinets, and Artem Yashan. All presentations generated considerable interest and lively discussion among conference participants.

At the conclusion of the scientific sessions, participants completed an assessment in order to receive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits, in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Based on the conference outcomes, a resolution was adopted outlining future directions for the development of specialized otorhinolaryngological care, particularly in the context of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.

The organizing committee expresses sincere gratitude to all participants, speakers, and partners for their active involvement, high-level scientific discussion, and shared contributions to the advancement of modern otorhinolaryngology.
