To mark All-Ukrainian Library Day and introduce students to European experience in digitalization and the development of modern research and educational spaces, Professor Nadiia Fedchyshyn, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, organized an engaging online tour of one of Europe’s most impressive libraries — the Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Centre (Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum), the main library and information centre of Humboldt University of Berlin.

The event was attended by faculty members of the Department of Foreign Languages and students enrolled in the Applied Linguistics. Medical Terminology and Specialized Translation (English) and Physical Therapy educational and professional programmes.

During the virtual visit, participants learned about the building designed by architect Max Dudler. Opened in 2009, the library is renowned for its impressive multi-level reading room and abundant natural light. Its collection comprises approximately 2.5 million books, making it the largest open-shelf-access library in Germany.

Nadiia Fedchyshyn showed the participants the modern reading rooms and provided a detailed overview of the library user experience, ranging from visitor regulations and electronic literature searches to access to specialized academic resources.

Faculty members and students listened with great interest and actively explored the specifics of working with academic materials and resources relevant to medical translation. The meeting took place in an open-dialogue format and a warm, friendly atmosphere, providing all participants with valuable experience and inspiration for their further academic and research activities.
