Academic Integrity in Practice at TNMU

How to properly organize the review of student papers for academic integrity? How to work with a similarity report and what to pay particular attention to when analyzing it?

These very questions formed the basis of a practical workshop for academic and teaching staff, held at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Pharmacy of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.

The event focused on the practical aspects of working with the StrikePlagiarism system and its use in ensuring academic integrity during the preparation of qualification papers.

Participants had the opportunity to explore the system’s key tools step by step, including:

  • creating assignments for students and organizing the submission of papers for review;
  • the specifics of working with qualification papers in the StrikePlagiarism system;
  • generating, reading, and interpreting similarity reports;
  • analyzing detected text matches and understanding their significance for assessing academic integrity.

Special attention was given to the similarity report, since it is not an automatic verdict on plagiarism, but a tool that requires professional analysis and a responsible academic decision.

The workshop took place in a friendly atmosphere of professional communication, experience sharing, and active discussion of practical issues.

Our goal is not simply to learn how to use digital tools, but to establish unified, transparent, and clear approaches to reviewing academic papers that will help improve the quality of education and trust in the results of scholarly work.

We thank our colleagues for their active participation, interest, and willingness to enhance their professional competencies!

A culture of academic integrity is built through knowledge, cooperation, and responsible daily practice.
