The First Defence of the PhD Thesis in Nursing was Held at TNMU

On April 21, 2023, a meeting of specialized academic council (DF 58.601.072) was held on the occasion of the defence of Antonina Tsipkalo’s dissertation “The influence of sleep quality on the health of nurses working in shifts” for the degree of doctor of philosophy in the specialty “Nursing” (the dissertation was supervised by Professor Maria Marushchak).

Antonina Tsipkalo presented the results of her research, noting the relevance, scientific and practical  significance of the obtained results, which consisted in clarifying the influence of sleep quality indicators on the health status of nurses of therapeutic and surgical departments who work in shifts, by studying the level of blood pressure, dispositional optimism and their relationships with sleep quality.

The scientists actively participated in the discussion of the dissertation, namely:

– reviewers: Professor Olha Denefil, DSc, PhD, MD, Head of the Department of Pathological Physiology of Ternopil National Medical University; Associate Professor Liudmyla Mazur, PhD, MD Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University;

The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Ivan Klishch, DSc, PhD, MD, Professor of the Department of Functional and Laboratory Diagnostics of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University; Head of the Academic and Research Institute of Nursing, Associate Professor Svitlana Danchak, PhD, MD.

On the basis of the public defence of the thesis, the members of the specialized academic council decided to award Tsipkalo Antonina Ivanovna the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty “Nursing” in the field of knowledge “Health Care”.

Antonina Tsipkalo expressed the appreciation to administration of Ternopil National Medical University for their concern for the nursing profession and the opportunity to obtain all levels of higher education here, noting that she was proud to have studied at Ternopil National Medical University for her master’s and postgraduate studies.
