TSMU continues to study epidemiology, medical signs and prevention of Lyme disease among forestry workers of Khmelnitskyi region

On December 1, 2017, a working group of scientists from the department of infectious diseases of the Ternopil State Medical University journeyed to Khmelnitsky region. Their goal was to survey forestry workers in this region to assess their understanding of epidemiology, major clinical manifestations and prevention of Lyme borreliosis, and to conduct clinical and laboratory tests for the presence of Borrelia type bacteria among this group. Each year, representatives of the Nigerian student community in Ternopil join together to organize an even to celebrate their achievements in study and community work. They also thank their teachers for sharing their knowledge, support, and help. Ternopil State Medical University inaugurated its Teaching Pharmacy

On November 30, 2017, for the first time in the history of Ternopil State Medical University, the Department of Pharmacy Management, Economics and Technology opened a teaching pharmacy. Located on 36 Ruska St., the new TSMU structure is the result of efforts of professor Taras Hroshovyi, associate professor Antonina Denys, and assistants professors Anastasiia Dub and Lilia Stoiko. The second International Conference Reconstructive Heart Surgery held on November 23-24, 2017 in Kyiv, gathered leading cardiac surgeons from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova, and Romania. Students of Ternopil State Medical University worked at regional hospice

For two and a half months, students Ternopil State Medical University had been carrying out a volunteering mission in Ternopil Regional Hospice.  Oksana Kushneryk, third-year student of the Faculty of medicine served as a coordinator of this long-term charitable project. In the hospice, the doctors-in-training assisted its medical staff in caring for patients. They fed the patients, talked to and the elderly, looked after them, and overall tried to get involved in all hospice procedures. EMSA members organized educational activities for the World Diabetes Day

On the occasion of the World Diabetes Day, Ternopil State Medical University students members of the European Medical Student Association, organized a series of events. International students competed in a trivia tournament

The organizers of a trivia tournament at Ternopil State Medical University wanted to offer the way the overseas students an interesting and meaningful way to spend extracurricular time. After the competition, the organizing committee consisting of Zoriana Lukashuk, Taisiia Bilonozhko, Yana Bondarchuk, and Yulia Bandrivskaya received lots of positive feedback. TSMU scholar participated in Horizon 2020 meeting

On October 27, 2017, the European Commission announced new Horizon 2020 Work Programs for 2018-2020. Horizon 2020 is the largest research and innovation program. It is “open to the world”, meaning that researchers, universities, research organizations, companies and non-governmental organizations from any country can apply for calls. Financed calls have already brought in investments totaling 30 billion euros. Ternopil State Medical University is the first medical school in Ukraine to implement the program Body Interact – clinical reasoning education in the teaching process. This program  presents virtual clinical scenarios, allowing teachers and students to recreate particular clinical situations in real time, supplement it with all the required physical, laboratory and instrumental tests and prescribe treatment in accordance with modern protocols of European and American medical associations.
