New generation of medical students begins their training at TSMU

The excitement was palpable in Ternopil State Medical University on August 31, 2017 when the new cohort of medical students became matriculated. The student family welcomed 965 first-year students, as well as 122 young people who had transferred from medical colleges. Perhaps even more excited were international students. Over 80 first-year students have already been enrolled to TSMU. These young people come as far away as India, Pakistan, Poland, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria, and Egypt. New research laboratory at Ternopil State Medical University

Ternopil State Medical University was recently awarded the highest distinction of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine during the 60th anniversary celebrations. Recently representatives of medical institutions from Sweden met with the Ternopil State Medical University rector Dr. Mykhaylo Korda to discuss areas of future cooperation. The Swedish delegation consisted of coordinator Marie Siestedt, cardiac surgeon Mogens Bugge, surgeon Patrik Cikota, professor C.G. Rector of TSMU met with students

A traditional meeting of Ternopil State Medical University rector Professor Mykhaylo Korda with the student body took place on March 13, 2017. This was the day of TSMU student conference, when the doctors in training gathered to review the report of Student Council Audit Committee and approve its budget for next year. On March 3, 2017 head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Uliana Suprun came to Ternopil State Medical University for a working visit. Ternopil State Medical University students from India organized a celebration for military personnel

Since previous year Ternopil  city library has been implementing a rehabilitation project for police and military personnel using book and art therapy. Members of TSMU choir gave charity help to Ternopil hospice

During the Christmas holidays, Ternopil State Medical University choir kept busy schedule performing carols in various venues. Its members collected a considerable amount of donations, more than 20 thousand hryvnas. All of the money the choristers decided to direct to charity. Together, professors and students of Ternopil State Medical University decided to help medical facilities in most need. Outreach work of TSMU students

Recently, students Ternopil State Medical University who volunteer for the Red Cross, collaboration with the Youth Committee of Ternopil-Zboriv Archdiocese organized in Ternopil regional perinatal center “Mother and Child” a social event dedicated to the World Day of the patient. Young people aimed to give moral support to pregnant women on bed rest. More than 1,500 international students nearly 60 countries study at Ternopil State Medical University. They are ambassadors of diverse and fascinating cultures, each possessing distinctive customs and traditions. Ternopil State Medical University signed a cooperation agreement with the Center for Child Support (Poland)

On 9 February 2017, Renata Blecha, President of the Center for Child Support (Fundacja pomocu dzeciam) in Żywiec, Poland met with rector of Ternopil State Medical University, Professor Mykhaylo Korda to discuss areas of cooperation. Center for Child Support is one of the largest and best-equipped facilities in Poland and Europe. It employs over 80 experienced professionals (speech therapists, developmental-delay therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitators, psychologists, etc.) that assist 300 children with special needs. Ternopil State Medical University students had practical clinical training in Poland

Fifth year students of the Faculty of Dentistry Anna Chykyta, Katheryna Mashkova, Valentyne Kuzminska and fourth year students Svitlana Perytiatko, Pavlo Ostrovskyi and Yurii Shanaida recently returned from a clinical training in Poland, where they spent two weeks improving their medical skills in Wrocław clinics. On February 1, 2017 Ternopil State Medical University held a teaching conference titled Topical issues of training students at the Center for simulation training: lessons and prospects. The conference was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the University.
